Born from the combination of an intense passion for shooting and the crazy ramblings of a young US Army Ranger Officer and USPSA Master class shooter, the 3G Tactical Shooting Team has quickly expanded to include a myriad of shooters, styles, and backgrounds with common goals; safe, fast, accurate shooting. The 3G Tactical Shooting Team includes shooters with backgrounds ranging from the United States Army and Marine Corps, to law enforcement, to recreational shooters. The 3G Tactical Shooting Team is determined to remain focused on the most important aspects of competitive shooting; safety and enjoyment. Although we do take our shooting seriously, any day on the range is a good day and any day on the range with good people is a great day. We will keep the schedule of matches up on the website, so if you feel like joining us for a match, we would love to meet you and share a great day on the range.
Jim is a founder and co-owner of 3G Tactical. Jim has been obsessed with shooting in every form since the young age of 3 when he received his first bow and quiver of arrows. Jim’s experience with various tools of marksmanship expanded as he grew, though the focus remained on hunting with archery equipment, bolt action rifles, and muzzleloaders being the equipment he was most familiar with.
In 1998 Jim joined the United States Marine Corps and on the rifle range of MCRD Parris Island Jim’s passion for tactical shooting began to blossom. Throughout the time spent in the Marine Corps Jim distinguished himself as a marksman and solid Marine Corps Infantryman (0311) by competing in the Annual Marine Corps Rifle Squad Competition in 2000 and being part of the winning infantry squad in 2001. Both in 2000 and 2001, Jim’s squad was recognized for superior marksmanship and received Marine Combat Marksmanship of the Year honors. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 2003, Jim continued to pursue his passion by becoming a NRA Certified Instructor and teaching others the fundamentals of effective and accurate marksmanship. Jim became a member of the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA), and quickly became addicted to the competitive, safe, and friendly environment of the shoots. Jim continues to pursue his passion for hunting and the outdoors, and when he cannot be found in the shop or shooting for fast "A's" he most likely out chasing big game with his bow or his Hawken .50 caliber muzzleloader. Jim is shooting a Springfield Armory Xdm 4.5" 9mm in Production Division and XDm 5.25" .40 in Limited Division with custom trigger jobs and accessories available at 3G Tactical.
